Question:

Is it possible to harness the power of lighting if you attract it to a rod, and transfer that to a generator?

like during a lightning storm have a bunch of rods to attract the liughtning and then run that energy through a generator instead of having coal and fossil fuels polluting

Answer:

Is the theory of relativity a metaphor? A theory, any theory, is a metaphor you test to see how bad its model is as compared to Nature. In a video I saw the space as a wire-frame model with the Heavy object as sun in the middle making a depression in the space time and simultaneously twisting it by its rotation. The rubber sheet analogy uses gravitation to explain gravitation. Clearly this is unhelpful. Rubber sheets deform due to weight, which is present due to gravity. Then why doesn't the moon or the planet with a gradual decrease in the radius of their orbits, fall to the middle? Rubber sheets have friction. Rubber sheets can transfer angular momentum to the frame that supports them. Gravitation cannot do this. Angular momentum must be conserved. Even if they do and we still don't know, why isn't there any decrease in our orbit? The Moon is stealing angular momentum from the Earth, and its orbit is increasing. Tidal action does this. Some planets are getting closer to the Sun, and some are getting farther. Tidal action here too. Is it necessary that heavy objects are the axis of revolution of the less heavier objects? You need to study up on barycenter. The Sun and Jupiter orbit a common barycenter, and it is outside the surface of the Sun. The Earth-Moon system also orbits a common barycenter, which is well inside the Earth.
Anything is possible. Unfortunately not now with current technology. Ask again 20 years from now
