Question:

Is it possible to make plastics out of vegetable oils?

Otherwise will there be no plastic after oil runs out? Surely we can't live off recycled plastic forever.

Answer:

They make plastic out of corn. Mostly all To-go boxes are made from corn .

The short answer is yes. Not being an organic chemist, I've no details regarding what and how. I wouldn't worry too much about running out of oil for about 200 years and by then, we will have come up with solutions to many of today's problems. (As long as we don't stop working on those solutions and keep rewarding the brilliant among us for their work.)
