Question:

Is it safe to run AC/Ref systems using diesel generator continiously?

A new facility is having a problem with getting power supply, is it safe to run the entire facility (including AC/Ref systems) using a diesel generator? is the power quality guaranteed (considering good quality generator) since that suppliers of AC/Ref systems claimed that this facility would lose the warranty in case of using a generator. Thanks in advance.

Answer:

When talking about an electric generator you have to include the quality of the driver as well as well as the control system. If the generator/driver is large enough and the controls are of sufficient quality to maintain the voltage and frequency then it doesn't matter what the power is used for.It will be more than adequate to safely supply AC units or just about any other equipment.
What is an AC/Ref system ? Please define unusual abbreviations. Power quality depends on the specifications of the generator. But I doubt they would be as good as that supplied by the power company. Bottom line, if the suppliers of this equipment say you will lose your warranty, then you will, unless you resort to a lawsuit. .
I've done service work in areas after a hurricane, and I've seen a lot of units run off of generators. There's nothing wrong with it. Those systems are fairly hardy. But if the manufacturer says your warranty is at stake, you have to decide how much that warranty is worth to you.
