Question:

Is it safe to swallow a bracket?

I had a bracket on my very back molar, it didn't have a wire to hold it if it fell off. I was eating and I heard a loud noise and when I look in the mirror it was gone. I think I swallowed it. I am wondering if this bracket will do something to my stomach or something!!

Answer:

im sure it will pass through eventually LOL i think i swallowed a brace off my tooth once and i was fine id just drink a lot of fluids and call the ortho tomorrow
The little element that glue on your enamel. No you would be effective. in the experience that your abdomen starts hurting undesirable then call the ER in spite of the undeniable fact that this is totally tiny and my teenagers have swallowed dimes and stuff in the past. while you're actually not having complication respiratory your ok. it is going to pass.
you should probably get it checked out. if you get an x-ray (depending on when you swallowed it) they may be able to see it. it could be pretty serious too. since it holds on to the tooth, it has edges sticking out for it so when you swallowed it, it could have maybe caused some damage. you should definitely get it checked out if you're ever in any real pain or feel like there's a cut anywhere in your through
If you managed to swallow it without noticing it go down then I would imagine that you'll be okay. If it was going to hurt you, it probably would have by now. Give your dentist/doctor/hospital a call just to be safe and see what they have to tell you, but I have a feeling this sort of thing happens to people with dental work a lot.
If you swallowed a tiny bracket then you should be fine. Your body won't be able to digest that so you should just pass it out eventually. Try eating fruits with a lot of fiber to help flush your system. Its suppose to be in your mouth for years so its not poisonous. Just be sure you didn't INHALE the bracket into your lungs. Now that is an emergency.
