Question:

Is pine bedding bad for pregnant gerbils?

Is pine bedding bad for pregnant gerbils and can i give my pregnant gerbil toliet paper to use as a nest?

Answer:

Yes aspen pine and cedar especially. Use tollhet paper and news paper. I also give my rats yarn to nest in.
I recommend Carefresh or old towels as bedding. Aspen contains harmful chemicals and shouldn't be used for small animals, even if they aren't pregnant. Toilet paper, when wet, has been known to get stuck on baby rodent's faces and strangle them. I suggest something that is safe, but can handle getting wet. Carefresh, fleece, old towels, paper towel (thicker than toilet paper) or even newspaper would probably be fine. :)
Pine bedding is bad for any gerbil pregnant or not. If you want to use wood shaving, go for aspen. It is the only safe wood bedding for small animals. And you can give toilet paper that is unscented and has no lotions in it. Hope I helped! Good wishes to you and your gerbils! :D
Pine bedding and all the other wood beddings are bad for any rodent pregnant or not. Toilet paper bedding is fine, strips of newspaper work great for nests as well.
