Question:

Is steel is attracted by the magnet?

steel is not a magnetic material

Answer:

Different steel alloys exhibit different magnetic properties. Some are magnetic and some are not. We had to be careful with the steel bolts we used assembling probes on our Tokamak as the magnetic field was so strong that if the alloy was ferromagnetic it could cause a lot of problems. We had to ensure that the bolts were made from an alloy of the AISI 300 series that are known to be nonmagnetic (304 if I recall correctly).
Iron is!! The answer is yes some types.
steel usually contains iron, which is magnetic. Also there are several kinds of steel. there may be some kinds of steel that are not magnetic.
