Question:

is the radio in a 2004 malibu connected to any other electrical components?

I need to know so I can replace it without screwing anything up. I read that in some of the newer cars the radios are connected to the headlights, heater etc. your help will be greatly appreciated.

Answer:

Where on earth did you read that?
yes it is. if you buy the quick connectors. you know the little coupler that lets you not have to splice every wire just the new radio to it and it plugs directly into your cars old connectors. then it will come with a little divice that is the new alarm chime. it was built into the raidios for those cars and if you just splice the wires without it not only will you lose your alarm chimes you know door ajar, lights on key in the igniton but it will also send an error message to the cars computer whcich could cause problems. the thing is for a stupid little speaker more or less it costs around $40 while regular car connectors cost about$8
strange idea. The radio is connected to the battery via a fuse block, to the metal chassis, to the antenna, and to the speakers. .
