Question:

Is there a audio recordable magnetic tape in different colors/transparent/reflective?

Is there a audio recordable magnetic tape in different colors/transparent/reflectiveI see there are magnetic tapes in different colors, but I am not sure if those can be recorded.also, is there any other options for recordable plastic materials?

Answer:

The plastic isn't recordable, the brown magnetic material coating the plastic holds the recording and it is opaque. If you take a piece of magnetic tape and gently scrape it you will find that some is clear tape and some is the brown color of the magnetic media. And it would certainly be possible to make a colored plastic support, but it can't be transparent. It might be possible to make a Mylar tape with a reflective surface but the shiny Mylar balloons are, as I understand it, holding a very thin film of aluminum and while that is not magnetic, as a metal, it might/will cause problems with recording on the tape. Not sure what you expect to do with colored tape in an audio environment that is rapidly disappearing.
