This isn't going to be used malicously, just wondering if it could be done and how.
They are probably exhaust hoses that vent the exhaust to the outside so the firemen don't get carbon monoxide poisoning. They would just slip off the end of the tailpipe.
First of all, put out the fire. Then take the battery out.
If you still have your manual/instruction booklet, you could look at that. If you don't, then try to look on the unit and get the brand name and model number. You can google the company and obtain their 800 phone number and call their customer service dept. Hopefully, someone will be able to assist you. It could be as simple as the battery going dead and just needs to be replaced. Hopefully, it's something simple and inexpensive as something like that. You can also google the manufacturer's name and with the model number, someone there whould be able to assist you.
Give up smoking and leave the smoke detector alone,so thats twice I may have saved your life in 20 seconds !
