Question:

Is there any law or regulation preventing an international company from importing used machinery to China?

I am asking as a potential manufacturer who is looking to set up a factory in China and use this machinery to produce goods. If you know, could you also please post some links so I can further my knowledge. Thanks!

Answer:

I understand your question. The best source of information would be the Chinese Embassy in Washington, DC. I do know of at least one U. S. exporter (cotton and textile fibers) that was asked if he could supply a reconditioned cotton gin. As far as I know there were no U. S. restrictions but it never got off the ground because the Chinese buyers either couldn't or wouldn't pay the asking price.
do you mean exporting machinery out of a country into China?
