Question:

Is there anything that can eliminate noisy windshield wipers?

Chrysler Caravan wipers noisy as they sweep across. The wiper have already been replaced. Drivin' me CRAZY!

Answer:

Have the dealership replace them with the original wipers. Anything you buy at an auto parts store is an aftermarket brand. Get OEM wipers. I used to think it didn't matter. I bought wipers at an auto parts store and I even paid extra for the ones with the teflon coating. They always had streaks and made noise. Then I had the blades replaced at the dealership with original wiper blades, and they're smooth and silent.
As stated road film will cause new wiper blades to squeak, jump, chatter or emit any number of noises, a 50-50 mix of white vinegar and distilled water makes an excellent windshield cleaner . . . . wipe dry with old newspaper, yes, newspaper. I buy my wipers at Advance Auto and have had no problem with them, dealerships used to use Anco or Trico as OE, don't know if that is still true. Always buy a wiper refill or complete assembly that has a metal spine on the blade, plastic is not rigid enough for good performance. Make sure the assembly has no less than six contact points on the wiper blade, the more contact points on the blade, the better contact on the windshield. If you follow these suggestions and still have chatter or squeaks, there is a possibility that there is a problem with the wiper arm itself, weak spring, corroded/rusted pivot pin or bent lower arm causing poor contact. The last condition I have found only once in 45 plus years.
The noise you may be hearing could be from lack of lubrication to the linkage under the cowl, the ball and socket joints tend to dry up and squeak like crazy. In order to lube them properly, you will have to remove the wiper arms and cowl cover, then you can get to the offending joints, lube with a white lithium based grease, and they should quiet down for a few years.
