Answer:

There are several things that you can do to flavor up a ham.have you ever tried a glaze? After the ham is smoked, if its the smokey flavor you ultimately want to achieve you can make a glaze with equal parts of brown sugar, cherry juice and pineapple juice with drops of liquid smoke to your tasting ( you can buy liquid smoke in any grocery store) if you want just flavor without the smokey taste you can omit the liquid smokeF.Y.I just keep in mind that the ham already naturally has the smokey taste so don't over do the liquid smoke.
How are you spinning the cotton if not with a drop spindle? BTW, using cotton balls is fairly common, many spinners save the cotton from pill bottles for this purpose as well as using cotton balls from the drug storeI do like your storage method, using the spool as a bobbinCotton is usually spun on a supported spindle or a tahkli since the fibers are short and take a lot of twist to hold togetherI'm spinning it on a charkha.
make a glaze for it using brown sugar and honeygives it a crispy crust
My grandparents always put pineapple over the top and put some kind of glaze? Good luck!
Ok ready here it is: Brown sugar, honey, pineapple juice, and just a little lemon juiceBest ham in the world!!
