Question:

Is this claustrophobia serious?

I am deathly, i mean DEATHLY afraid of being locked in a room or space where I can't escapeI'm fine with a little crowdedness but not with the restriction to escapeFor example, a couple of days ago me and my brother were in a car waiting because a family friend was driving us and she had to go into some car dealership place for alittle bit and so i was just sitting in the car and it was kinda hot so i went to open the door and it was locked, then i started having a panic attack, I seriously started screaming at my brother to get me out and he's like a year older than me so it wasn't like he was mature enough to do anything, so he just started making fun of me, but i was seriously going into panic attack mode and i started cryingAfter awhile she came back but it was really scaryThat's just one example, others would be going into an elevator alone, my brother chasing me around and cornering me(obviously it was just for fun but i just hate not being able to escape)Is this serious and do you have the same fear?

Answer:

Get wind and waterproof riding breeches, they're totally worth it!
I just got a quarter sheet [from a giftcard i won off Facebook on the AQHA page for SmartPak Equine] its a weatherbeeta oneIt's really nice at an amazing price! You could get one off e bay for cheap, i think they have them for around 20 bucksI wouldnt suggest a blanket since it could cause you to slip and slide in the saddle, but you could try itWhatever works!
Your case sounds pretty typical and in the normal rangeI could not imagine being locked in a hot car- why on earth were the doors locked from the inside? That's dangerous to begin withYou pretty much have the classic case, I am claustrophobic too to an extentSuch as elevators and tight spacesI absolutely cannot stand looking at people who bound themselves like those straight jacket tricks etc, they freak me out just watching lolI do hate being held down which my brother used to do to me ;- / So I can relateOn the bright side these are typical and not severe so don't worry no yours is not severe and just make sure it doesn't escalate to that pointIt looks like you are in the mild range, the link below shows how severe it getsI love riding in Trains so I have no issues with that at allI wanted to add that a lot of severe cases are when people wont leave the house or the refuse to ride the subways and trains and even airplanes because of the fear of not being able to escape or being closed inI can tell you right now I love train rides so do my boys but airlinesno only because of the fear of crashingand most people have thatBut I don't like closed doors either I even open my doors in my home for both sunlight and the feeling of my house being airy and open(eh.) Sunlight always helps so if you start to feel this way inside your home open windows/blinds let sunshine in.
