It is an 02 cavalier ls coupe. I already have the short ram intake installed in it, but i would still like a few more horses on this slow car! I dont know much about these sorts of things anyways.If i buy a full catback exhausr system and have it installed would there be a noticable difference in the vehichles take off speed and performance? I know the car is not going to ever be real fast unless i do a total motor swap, but i cant afford that. And my second question is what if I just buy the 4 in exhaust pipe and have it welded on? would that now be as efficient as the total catbak put on my cargt; or does it not really make a difference? And if I buy the catbak system off ebay what kind do i need to buy? I cant afford anything from a shop so please do not suggest that. I also cant afford another car at all so do not say get a better/faster car either. and my third question: should i get headers instead of the mods i have mentionedgt; if so what all do i need to buy? Detailed advice please!
no, the length of the pitman arm is what controls that.
I guess you are right this is not a speed motor but you will see small gains buying a cat back system. It would not justify the expense doing a whole system for 2% gain in HP/Torque. You'd be better off just doing a staight through muffler for the same gains. 4 pipe will not gain it will drop HP and this motor already has a type of tube header manifold. going larger would lose torqe.
i have an '02 cavy with the 2.4 in it. adding an exhaust system to it is only going to make it sound like a pack of pissed off bee's! it will maybe add as much as 15 hp (atleast thats all it did with a friends cavy) so its a waste of money on a 4 cyl. if you REALLY want performance then save up and buy a Corvette. 0-60 mph in 3.6 sec, 0-100 in 7.7 sec and the 1/4 mile in 11.7127!! thats FACOTRY! and its an n/a engine! but thats not a cavy so anyway, good luck and i hope you find what you are lookin for.
