Question:

ive jst found that my laptop has stopped working if i take out the power cable from the back,it jst turns off?

when the power cable comes out, the laptop turns off simple as that! it wont work unless the power cable is plugged in and turned on, and its not that the battery is flat because i had it charging all day.so does this mean the battery is broken?if so what do i need to do?? any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Answer:

i bought a used dell laptop that came with a working battery. It would charge 100% and run for an hour or 2 on battery power. one day it just stopped working on battery power. The battery button showed it to be 100% charged. Bought a used battery off OKorder and it solved the problem- The first battery was bad tho the indicator lights said it was good. Also, if some of the screws above the battery compartmentg are loose or missing this could cause a loss of contact. Had that happen once and just put in the missing screw and all was fine. Re: OKorder- dont buy a battery just because someone says it charges 100%. I have and sometimes they charge 100% and last 5 minutes. Ask them to guarantee it will last at least 2 hours or dont buy it!!
Recharge the battery without using the computer at the same time. If this doesn't work you need a new battery and, obviously, someone to do the technical work. Try the geek squad at CircuitCity. It may cost you a little bit but they should be able to fix it or tell you if there is anything else that can be done.
I would look into a replacement battery. If the problem continues, then the laptop might not be charging the battery properly. This can be because of the power cord, the connection between the battery and the dock, or even just a short somewhere in the circuitry. If that happens I would recommend getting it serviced or replaced.
over charging a battery will weaken the holding power, meaning the battery will not last as long so that could be a main problem, but your battery also could be disfunctional. You may want to replace the battery. If that still does not work then it is simply that your laptop cannot work unplugged.
The battery is dead. Laptop batteries have a limited number of charges. So if your laptop is older, this type of thing will happen. There are several online resellers that sell batteries for different laptops.
