I know carpet pythons are semi arboreal but do they need a vertical terrarium or would one be happy in a horizontal cage. And what is the minimum terrarium size for an adult jungle carpet python?Thanks:)
It depends on the size of the snake . They continue to grow so it really depends . I would say a 20 gallon long aquarium would be fine for most. You do not necessarily need a vertical cage . You do need a cage large enough so your snake can have hides/wooden boxes in different areas so he can have a warmer box closer to a light when he wants to warm up and a cooler hide/box in another area so he can regulate his temp. You can stack wooden boxes ( easily made ) with an entrance hole so that each one gets warm as it gets closer to your heat lamp. You could also put damp moss in one for a more humid hide . They are beautiful snakes a easy to care for . Just have accurate digital thermometers and one to measure your humidity level. I like to have one artificial branch for them to climb on.

Jungle carpets tend to be delicate approximately being moved, regardless of the incontrovertible fact that. ensure your cage is sparkling and punctiliously disinfected. Most adult jungles can be housed comfortably in a 3x2 enclosure. The really large ones though will benefit from a 4x2 cage. I like at least 18 inches of height in the cage to provide opportunities for climbing. Temperature range should be 80-90°F during the non breeding season with moderate humidity. Its recommended that branches be provided, and they will spend quite a bit of time using them.
A 20 gallon long WILL NOT work for an adult jungle. You actually have allot of options with a jungle, as they are semi arboreal, you can use space horizontally and vertically. 3'x2'x2' would be a great cage for most adults, though occasionally you see a bigger jungle. You also have to be careful as there are allot of people crossing jungles with larger coastal carpets, and selling them as jungle carpets. Not that there is anything wrong with them, but all size bets are off, you could end up with a 6' - 8' carpet, at which point a 3' cage will be tight. As to whether they need a vertical terrarium, not necessarily, but they do seem to do better with climbing space and perches, so it doesn't need to be vertical, but it should be high enough to provide climbing perches.
