Question:

Knitting: what happens if I do not block before finishing up?

I'm in the middle of making my first baby cardieI've got all the pieces done and now it's time to finish up.What happens if I finish up without blocking the pieces? Can I block it later? The yarn is a 70% cotton, 30% wool.Okay, I admit I'm lazy-ish and I'm loooking for shortcutsHowever, I've read some instructions where they insist on blocking before finishing up, and some others that say it doesn't matter and you can block the whole garment after you're doneThe instin my pattern say to block before finishing, but I'm wondering if there will be a significant difference if I block it after?I'd appreciate the thoughts of knitters with experience with this, please? Thanks!

Answer:

I boil them first - then coat with bar b q sauce and let sit in the fridge all day - then I heat up the barbeque and finish them on there.
season them wrap them in heavy duty foil, place on cookie sheet bake 400 for at least 1 hour to an hour and 20 minat that point i have the grill real hot rove the ribs from the foil place on another cookie sheet and bast with bar b q grill on both sides for about 10 min each sidethese come out fabulous enjoy
at first just season ribs with a dry rub ONLY - any spices you like mixed with brown sugar - liquid will burn to quick! place on foil lined shallow baking sheet meat side up cook low and slow for best results i bake them at uncovered at 250 for about 3 hours after 3 hours coat in your bottled sauce and turn oven to broil until you get a nice crips skin
I always block after the project is assembledThat way, if I've stretched or scrunched anything, I can adjust it during the assembly process.
