Question:

Laser experts I need some perspective!?

I'm 19 and almost finished with my freshman year of college. I've always been fascinated with lasers but recognize that they are to be used with caution. I saw some videos on youtube of people building their own lasers using DIY kits. So I decided would give this a shot. I'm building a 1W 445nm laser with a Rayjob Aurora C6 flashlight host. I have all the parts necessary and highly recommended safety goggles as well (

Answer:

The two kinds of smoke detectors serve two different purposes and the ionizing version reacts sooner and to lower levels of evidence. A photocell smoke detector needs particles of smoke to detect, like smoldering smoke from a cigarette dropped in upholstry. But before smoke appears in many cases a clear fire will produce ionized particles including carbon monoxide that will discharge an ionizing detector and give better warning.
Yes we had the training every year where I worked, we had to put out a fire in a trough to show that we knew how to use it. A car once caught on fire at the university where I worked, a student had started it in front of the dorm building, the physical plant had not removed the leaves (were waiting for Thanksgiving break and all the cars to be gone in the parking areas) and the muffler ingnited the leaves. The student ran inside to get a fire extinguisher from the kitchen and they wouldn't allow him to use it and called 9-1-1 instead, which basically ruined the car. I would have let them use the fire extinguisher if it was my department, common sense did not prevail that day.
