Question:

laying copper tubing beside a septic to keep roots from growing in the pipes?

so this is what my mom‘s friend heard. is itt true? and if not what are some ways to keep roots from growing in the pipes without killing the treeunless thats the only solution?

Answer:

they make a chemical to put in your system that stops that from happening its copper based i believe roots go to water . water maples and willow will get into them real easy if you have one of these i would get rid of it because it will cost you in the long run
