Lead and copper are toxic but lead is far worse. Lead is also extremely soft even compared to a weak metal like copper. copper also is easier to work as below a certain softness metals start getting sticky when working - thats why mild steel is easier to machine than some grades of aluminium.
You are aware that lead is poisonous?
