Question:

Lemon and Lime Themed Wedding?

One of best friends is getting married and has given me the opportunity to work my skills as a wedding planner and I'm in a bit of a rut. She absolutely loves green and chose lemon and lime for a June wedding, but she is also a very informal bride. We are trying to find an informal invitation that still uses wedding appropriate lemon and limes (aka no margarita glasses accompanying it). Any ideas on how to change the citrus theme into something fun for her and classy enough for her in-laws to not flip?

Answer:

My guess is you are making Thai food. The kaffir lime leaves in Thai food and other east Asian dishes do not taste, look, feel, or smell the same as standard lime leaves. Even if you were to purchase and grow a lime tree, the tree will grow too slowly to give you a steady supply of leaves. It's better to order the leaves from a company such as Import Foods (see link below). However, if you want to grow your own lime tree for the fun of it, either buy Cactus/Citrus potting soil or make your own with 2 parts Miracle grow potting soil, 1 part perlite, and 1 part peat moss. Plant a tree purchased on-line or from a nursery (not a seed) in the pot and make sure it has plenty of direct light for about 10-12 hours a day (8 hours in winter is okay). Lime trees like warm temperatures. Bring your lime tree inside if the temperatures are expected to get below 45F at night.
maybe put lime seeds in the ground im not sure !! ask a Gardener
