Question:

Light!!!!!?

Is light from a light bulb polarized?? How can you tell or how do you know if a type of light is polarized??

Answer:

Light from a lightbulb is NOT polarized. You can tell if you get a pair of polaroid sunglasses (or a polarized light filter) and rotate your head from side to side while looking at the lightbulb. That is to say, first tilt your head way to the left and then move your head so it tilts way to the right, looking at the lightbulb the whole time. If the intensity of the bulb appears to go dark at some point, then that would be evidence of polarized light. However, I don't think you will observe such changes in intensity, indicating the light from the bulb is not polarized.
