Question:

Lining on leather jacket stains my shirts?

I bought an awesome red leather jacket and the lining is cotton and it stains my shirts red when I wear it. Stains as in ruins the shirt, as it won‘t come off entirely. I know that washing the lining helps, but I can‘t exactly throw a leather jacket in water and soap. Anyone has any ideas?

Answer:

Everyone cuts corners somewhere. Red is a nasty color to lock so it does not stain. I mean I have washed a red cotton rag 5 times and the water is as blood red on the first washing as it is on the 5th. And the color has not faded from the cloth one bit. So, how good are you with needle and thread? I don't believe there is a need to rip out the old lining, but find some other material like a polyester red and have that sewn directly over the lining that is in there.Poly red is not dyed , but it is the color of the fabric threads themselves. Or a different color if you want. If not so handy with needle and thread, take it to a seamstress and tell them the story and where the greatest areas of stain are. I am certain they will give you the same suggestion.(I mean no one sees it as it is the inside of the jacket). No washing the Leather coat(unless you don't want it anymore)
i dont suggest it because then the heat from your iron burns the product in your hair. honestly, just get a spray. it's 5 dollars for treseme's and it's REALLY good.
