Question:

LoJack or standard car alarm?

I have heard about the LoJack system which tracks your vehicle if stolen and its early warning system. If you own a LoJack system or know someone that does, can you give me some information and what you think about it and if you think it is worth getting over a traditional car alarm?

Answer:

Lojack is highly effective at recovering a stolen vehicle, but not protecting it from vandalism or protecting the vehicle contents from theft. If your primary concern is getting the vehicle back if it's been stolen, then Lojack is the way to go; if you're concerned about preventing break-ins, then a more conventional alarm may be a better choice. Of course, there's no reason you can't get both.
My mom bought a Camry and got a LoJack because it's the mostly commonly stolen car in the country. Totally worth it for her. For you, it's a personal decision if it's worth it or not. However, it is definately more effective than a standard alarm.
When was the last time you saw a police car respond to a car alarm? They are so common and get set off accidentally so frequently, no one pays any attention to them. If you've already invested that much money in the car, get the Lo Jack.
