Question:

Losing oil in 97 Saturn, Lucas oil additive?

My saturn has been losing oil lately, and I recently purchased lucas oil stabilizer because I heard it slows down oil consumption. Will I need to put more of this stuff in every time I get my oil changed? or will this first usage of it be enough for the vehicle? thanks

Answer:

You have to add it every oil change. It is good stuff but it won't cure mechanical problems totally, just help is all.
I really doubt the Lucas will help your problem, find out where the leak is and get it fixed.
Well, here I go again. Now I'm convinced, there is a Santa Claus and indeed a miracle-in-a-can cause somebody said blah, blah.Don't fool yourself, engine oil additives and restoratives are an infamous scam and generally do more harm than anything else. Sooner or later what is really wrong with your engine will reach out and bite you on the A**. Google Federal Trade Commission and Dura Lube for example, pretty much sums it all up. Although, the little Lucas demo toy down at Autozone with the plastic gears you can spin around sure is fun and it's just like a car engine.Right?
