Consider having a minor crash in a car, you could walk away! a small crash in a motor cycle means you could have a greater chance of injuries! If you've ever riden a bicycle and pressed both brakes(HARD) at once then you'd realise the bike goes right over your head! now imagine that at speeds that exceed 40miles an hour!
Yes, bikes have better acceleration, braking and maneuverability than a car. While you can use those attributes to stay out of trouble, you can use those attributes to get into more trouble as well. Motorcycles are only as safe as the rider. Younger people tend to take unwise risks because they do not have the experiences to access the situations. The fact that you think you wouldn't get hurt suggests that you should not be riding a motorcycle. You should expect to get hurt and try to prepare for as many situations as possible.
