Answer:

Death metal has a very aggressive edge, heavily distorted guitars to it, and sometimes blast beats, fast double bass movements, and are associated with low deep growls. Heavy metal consists sometimes higher pitched vocals, and usually no blast beats. Heavy metal is a little toned down than death metal. Such as Iron Maiden. All metal genres are sub genres of heavy metal. Some come from a variety of other genres as well.
Death metal more harrdcoreeeeeeeeeeeeeee! x
Death metal has more growling and screaming in all there songs so they all sound like Cannibal Corpse and heavy metal can have proper singing in parts but your right they are both alike.
Death Metal is harder and does use fewer melodic techniques. Heavy Metal uses a broader range of techniques. It's that simple. An example would be this: Peter Gabriel does what we used to call Art Rock -- a subspecies of Progressive Rock from the seventies. Ozzie Osbourne does Metal. When Ozzie Osbourne sang Gabriel's eighties hit Shock the Monkey on someone else's cover of it -- that was Metal but it sure wasn't death metal.
Well it seems that you started out making a mistake. Stereotyping all those genres you mentioned is already a mistake. ALL Death Metal is not RORORORO and deathly lyrics. ALL BLack Metal is not Satan Satan Satan. Most genres are classified by how they sound so don't make it all about the lyrics, I've heard plenty of of death and Black metal bands that have lyrics relating to life and love. Basically just learn the main metal genres and you'll understand all the sub-genres you mentioned. Rather than learning just about Thrash Core look up Thrash Metal and Hardcore. Same with all the other genres, they are just mixtures of several others. Besides half of those genres aren't widely accepted. People just make up genres half the time because according to them its not just Thrash Meyal or just one anything so they mix and match.
