Question:

Metal storm door warped?

We put a metal storm door up about a year ago and took it off to replace the back door. We left it leaning on our house for some time before putting back up due to painting the trim. Either weather was too hot or too cold so it leaned up against the house for about 9 months. We got all the painting done so we were able to put the storm door back on and now it isnt flush anymore. Its fine at the top but the bottom doesnt quite meet. Did it warp due to being off for so long? And if so, is this fixable? Its not terrible but here in the Dallas area it is so humid that if I leave the back door open, you can feel the mugginess coming in the house. Will it eventually straighten back out?

Answer:

Most likely not. I would hold something that is straight against to determine where the bend is. Than I would lay a board over that area and tap the board with a heavy hammer. The board will disperse the hammer blow along the door so it doesn't get dented. Check for straightness, hit it again... etc. At some point it will become straight.
