Question:

microbial fuel cells and water-jet propulsion?

HI. So am working on a project to design a boat building industry for a little industrial town by the lake in my home city. In the past, timber has been used to make the boats, but it is imported from a neighbouring country. i was hoping to cut the cost by using recycled plastic (the town has a plastic factory) for the boat body. for propulsion i was thinking of using microbial fuel cells(since there a a number of breweries in the town) and a water-jet system. i know that water and electricity are by-products of using microbial fuel cells. my question is, can i run the water-jet propulsion system on microbial fuel cells? as in the microbial fuel cells providing both the water and electricity needed to run the water-jet propulsion system?

Answer:

Hi. okorder
You wouldn't get enough water or electricity from the microbial fuel cells to move the boat very fast or even at all.
