Question:

mounting motorcycle tires myself?

i have an old bike (1981) nothing fancy i wont be racing, driving cross contry, i just want cheap transportation. my question is is it ok to mount a front tire myself just using two large flathead screwdrivers? or is that going to cause problems? i do have access to a bead sealer, so thats not an issue.

Answer:

I would use two or three dedicated tire irons instead of flat head screwdrivers. Don't want to take a chance of damaging the beads of the tire. And I have changed a few tires in my day. Worked for Firestone for over 5 years a lifetime ago. I have changed tires I can stand in. Use the proper tools for the job. Don't take a chance when it comes to your tires. Good Luck
