Question:

Mouse trap vehicle construction?

we are thinking of construction an aluminum rounded chassis in the hopes of increasing initial speed over a 10 meter distanceHas anyone attempted this before or have any suggestions on increasing the speed over 10 meters?

Answer:

You'll have enough paper for the whole wedding partyNo need to buy any
only if the paper was Charmins Ultra Strong.
I am actually thinking of going with Saran Wrap it really sparkles with just the right lighing not to mention seeing my hoo-haw will really turn all of the men on .
Your question is a bit vagueIf the speed is increased over a specified distance, then it appears that somebody has done it before The means of propulsion are also not clearIf its a mouse-trap from aluminium alloy (of specific size and mass) that you are considering, then the source of power might be limited to the spring when it is set to catch a mouseThe energy of this spring will need to be released slowly by the use of a string wrapped round a shaft and the ends of the shaft are connected to two driving wheelsThe use of a fly-wheel on the shaft should also be considered if all the energy is released in a shorter time than it takes to run the full distance, or you might want to consider the use of gearsBut more than this I cannot supply, except to add that if larger wheels are progressively introduced, the ground speed will increase, but the acceleration be less, so there must be an optimum wheel size to achieve the highest speed over a set length such as 10 meters.
