Question:

Moving into the big kid bed...?

At what age have you moved your child from the toddler size bed to a twin or larger?

Answer:

We didn't use a toddler size bed at all, they really aren't necessary, although they are really cute. I believe it has more to do with the size of the child, if your child is becoming too big for the bed then it's time to move them.
Do you have an Ikea around you? If so, they sell beds that are low to the ground and are expandable. It has three lengths. The final length being a normal single bed! They're brilliant. I bought one for my 3 year old. He's now in the full length. And because they are close to the ground, your son won't get hurt if he falls... and you can buy guards to put up!
Bought my son a toddler bed for his 1st bithday...he was already trying to climb out his baby bed. Bought him a full size at 3 years old, however, he still mostly sleeps with me (he's 5 now)
I moved my son to a toddler bed at one- and then when my mother would watch him at her house she had a twin bed for him at that age and we just put rails on the bed so he wouldnt fall off- hes four now and i still keep the rails on his bed because he is all over the place when he sleeps!
You can move you child to a regular bed now, especially if he is getting to big for the toddler bed. You can either put up rails on the bed or do what we did since ours also fell out of bed for awhile. Put the bed on the floor - if he falls out of bed, he falls not very far. Put pillows on the floor if you are concerned.
