Answer:

Dry the wood first then you can use it in your fire place. The reason that you shouldn't use any wood wet is because when you burn it you will have a lot of smoke in witch it wouldnt be safe to breath in the smoke, and if any one is sick or has lung problems will end up coughing plus your house will smell like smoke.
Here are literally thousands of organized woodworking projects in a members area and all you have to do is get them off your computer any time you want. Go here
if the wood is seasoned and its wet from rain or snow its fine to burn the wetness in the wood will evaporate very fast especially the fire is already burning now on the other hand if your trying to start a fire with wet wood u may have a little trouble nothing a presto log or a flare wont cure use extreme caution if u use a flare.
(if you live in the EU) go to account management, logon your account find parental controls and guess til you finally get in, take it off, change password for parental controls and your account. Voila.
Yes it's safe, The biggest thing is getting the fire going, it's hard to light a fire with wet wood. Folks on here talk about alot of smoke. That may happen but long as your insert was put in correctly it drafts well and smoke is not an issue, thats what the chimney is there for. With a hot fire a wet log will dry out quick and still produce heat but you have to get a good ember bed/hot fire established which may take you a little unless you have alot of kindling. I use a wood stove as heat as well and my wood sits out in the rain all the time. I keep some of it dry so I can get a good established fire then I just through my soaked logs in my fire. If they are harder to get lit, I leave my door cracked open to establish a better draft.
