Question:

Mustang v6 exhaust system help?

Am looking to buy a magnaflow exhaust system for my 02 v6 stang but I dont know which to get. I want one that will sound agressive and loud (but not annoying loud), I also dont want it to affect the performance like backpressure, but rather improve it (am aware it wont be a dramatic improvement). Proffesional and personal experience answers would be much appreciated thank you.

Answer:

Real bleach should work but color safe 'bleach' won't. Keep towels fluffy with dryer sheets.
Doesn't matter what system you get, it is a V-6 and there is nothing you can do to make it sound like a V-8.
You can't go wrong with a magnaflow system. They provide increased performance and a nice deep rumble sound.
I just beefed up my '01 v6 with magaflow products. Go to local exhaust shops (or buy the following parts if you have the mechanical skill) and get pricing for an X pipe after the cats with two magnaflow mufflers. Mine cost $450 for parts and labor and since exhaust flows through an X pipe rather than gathering in a stock Y pipe, back pressure is reduced significantly. My car has a nice, deep rumble (no ricer lawnmower sound) especially between 2-3k on the tachometer. It also has better gas mileage (less work on the engine pushing exhaust out) and I saw around a 10-12 HP (even more with a cold air intake) gain in performance. Not to mention, the car just looks better with two, shiny tailpipes opposed to one rusty one. Be sure to ask about emissions testing if it applies in your area. Happy hunting, you won't be disappointed.
