Question:

My 2006 Honda Civic car alarm has gone nuts!?

My 2006 Honda Civic has gone nuts! For the past few weeks the car alarm will go off on its ownespecially during the middle of the night. The only way to stop it is to turn the car on and close the door. Have tried to disconnect battery for a few hours so it could reset, but that did not seem to work either. Battery is fully charged. Really need some help.my neighbors are hating me! Any suggestions! Thanks!

Answer:

The shock sensor is too sensitive, try to adjust it down. Normally locate under steering column area and turn it clock or counter-clock wise with a little screw drive. Or simply turn off the alarm: turn the key on (key on engine off) , locate the kill switch(on/off switch) and turn it off. There is red indicator will light up. You do not need a alarm for your car, factory remote only lock/un-lock door. Dealer install a shock sensor only. Your key comes with a chip that is recognize by your cars computer only, nobody can still your car without a key!
Anything to help your engine breath more easily will result in more horsepower and better fuel mileage. KN makes the most popular intake kits.
extremely tough task. look over google and yahoo. just that could help!
I assume you've ruled out some new animal in the area bumping into the car and running away before you see it? The type and setup of the alarm would help, but that may be beyond the level of this forum. If you have a proximity sensor those can sometimes get triggered by random wireless signals. Also consider the possibility that someone has your remote control code, and is messing with you. By sheer coincidence over the years, I've been able to arm/disarm two other vehicles in random parking lots. But my alarm is a mid-90s model, and code security has probably improved since then.
Depends what kind of alarm you have. If it is OEM alarm it should sound when you open the door. If it is after market alarm, make sure the vibration sensor ( i think called it) is too loose or something is triggering loose connetcion ect. disconnecting battery you will loose your anti-theft code of the audio system. Better to check it out or removed it.
