i am a barber cuttin out of holland michigan, my chair use to pump up to my eye level, and now im stuck hurtin my back bending over to get the client done,. my chair pumps up about 4 pumps i need some advice to fix this chair. i just want it to pump up as high as it use togt;gt;?

Answer:

your hydraulic seals are worn. There are shops which repair hydraulics -- users of hydraulics include auto repair shops (jacks), big rig truckers (many applications), etc. You might want to dismantle the chair yourself and try to find the seals -- they're not hard to install, just hard to get to). It's possible that you might buy a little time by topping off the fluid reservoir in your chair.
Bring a couple of phone books for the customers to sit on. It might also help to not wear shoes or socks while you are cutting. Another alternative would be to only cut hair for very tall people.....or very short people and have them stand the whole time.
Barber Chair Hydraulic Pump
Your chair is basically a hydraulic lift. When you pump the chair you are pumping oil into the cylinder to lift the chair. When you push the release, the oil flows back into the reservoir. Odds are that one of the seals is leaking a little or you don't have enough oil in the reservoir any more. So you'll need to at least partially take the chair apart to troubleshoot.
