So, sometimes when i cook it goes off and he freaks out. He runs and hides and he starts shaking like crazy. I try to pet him and calm him down but he just hides between my legs and shakes. if it does happen i try to fan the smoke out or before i start cooking i open the windows to let a breeze in. The noise is really loud though so i don't blame him. What are some ways to not get him scared and shaken-up and some ways to calm him down.

For you to believe that the landings didn't happen, you have to accept the premise that the Federal government has managed to keep an airtight lid on things for over 40 years so that none of the 400,000 people who worked on the project, or several foreign governments (including the Soviets, who hated us) have ever said a word. You're asking this of the same Federal Government that couldn't keep the Watergate break-in quiet for 30 days, when there were fewer than a dozen people who knew. But here's another piece of evidence I've never seen the hoaxers be able to successfully explain. In the mid 1990's, the Japanese put the SELENE spacecraft in orbit around the moon. One of it's instruments was a device for measuring the height of the lunar terrain. This data could be reconstructed to give an extremely accurate ground level view of the surface (literally orders of magnitude more accurate than what was available before). When this was done with the Apollo landing sites, the reconstructed terrain matched the photos taken by the astronauts exactlyevery single time it's been tried. Since that data wasn't available until the 1990's, and the photos have been around since at least 1972, explain how those photos could have been taken any place other than the moon (keeping in mind that plenty of the pictures include astronauts, so they were taken by robots won't work as an explanation). You say that evidence supports we didn't. Given that every single piece of hoaxer evidence from the last 35 years has been refuted, I'm anxious to hear what new evidence you have.
there are two reasons these fittings already have solder in them. are they used? if so, buy new ones. you could possibly clean them with a 1/2 wire brush. i dont put too much trust in the fittings that come with solder aready in them, but they should work. yes, use flux. my favorite is nokorode, but oatey works ok. heat the fitting on the under side, not the pipe and apply solder to the edge. apply until a drop forms at the bottom.
Ask the hardware man about the flux. U need to practice on some scrap pipe it sounds like b4 u start soldering.
