Question:

Is contact cement non conductive?

My e-reader is malfunctioning due to a small metal hinge (which protrudes from the case of the unit) and is triggering electrical current and causing a short. My purpose is not to adhere anything, but actually to apply this glue to dry as a kind of non conductive coating. If this doesn't work, is there another kind of household product that someone can recommend?

Answer:

Duct tape has been used to fix the iphone4 antenna-short problem quite successfully.
No. Contact cement does not conduct electricity. It just makes a firm bond between two different materials/.
contact cement is rubber based, so it is not conductive. but it is also not very strong and easily rubbed off. a better option would be 5 minute clear Epoxy, stong and durable and plastic based so also non-conductive.
