Question:

Best way to bead a Native American fancy dance back yoke?

My family keeps differing on the best way whether it should be beaded on leather or cloth or whatever. The consensus is: if I bead it on leather it may take longer, but it will look better and last longer but I don‘t know, whats your opinions? This is for my cousins regalia.

Answer:

I think the family consensus is correct. Beading on leather is more difficult, but it does last longer. If you use a heavy fabric, it is easier, and lasts pretty well too, but leather is better.
Well what type of beads are you using? I bead my regalia with czech seed beads but I know others who do delica. And btw the others are right. Try beading on felt because it's wayyyyy easier. As long as you line the underside with a good fabric all you have to do is trace your design on the felt and bead accordingly. Have fun!
