The babies are 5 days old and we haven't touched them yet. I read that the plastic tubes were bad for the babies ventilation but im afraid if we move them that she will eat them. She built the nest in one of the circles that stands upright. what do i do?
don't Touch them and get the mom away and win they open there eyes you can move them but make shure the lid is open so they can breath
leave them for now, they should open their eyes pretty soon, and may move on their own
I relatively have had hamsters all my existence. if your hamster is chewing on her plastic tubes you are able to desire to besides the undeniable fact that it some bite sticks. additionally you are able to purchase cardboard tubes for her to bite on this is risk-free. when you purchase cardboard tubes take the plastic ones out. If she is performing distinctive and not ingesting take her to the vet. As long as she isn't too stressed out, is getting proper nutrition, and has a roomy cage, she will most likely not harm the babies. I used to breed mice for snake food and messed with the babies all the time. If you move them, the mom will just make a new nest. She might carry them to a different spot where she sees more fit, which is fun to watch, but if you want to remove them from the tube it should be safe :) Good Luck!!
let her be a momma :) i learned the hard way from a similar situation that mice do infact eat their babies if they come in contact with humans. she will most likely move them soon, but if you are still concerned, get some clean rubber disposable gloves and put them on. next rub your hands in the mouse's bedding (sort of wash your hands in it) and then gently pick up each baby and set it in another corner. if momma moves them back let them be. if you are very worried just call a vet for advice. if they ask you to bring them in for examination, don't do it, they will charge you $50 to tell you the things i just did
