i have a syrian hamster who is about 7 month but he doesn‘t use his wheel, i know that hamsters need to exercise so i tried everything to make him use his wheel, i tried to put him on it, i tried putting some food on the wheel so he would use it but nothing works plz help me
Some hamsters just don't like the wheel. If this is the case, there's really nothing you can do to change that. Instead, get an exercise ball and allow him to use that for 30 minutes a day. Otherwise, check to make sure the wheel is large enough. Syrians need pretty large wheels in order to use them comfortably. If they have to arch their backs in order to run on their wheel, it can be very uncomfortable for them to run. For a Syrian, you need a wheel with at least an 8 inch diameter; and they like larger wheels even better.
I had the same problem, what actually happens is when your hamster gets board at night, he /she will use the wheel but he will get bored of it. If your worried about the fitness of the hamster, take him out and let him run across your hand like a human treadmill :) also if the haster get to big for his wheel you need a bigger one Hope this helps
Heh mines the same age! Get him a ball and interact with him a decent amount everyday. Plus you may need a bigger wheel if its to big. Mine used to use his now hes bored of it. He'll be fine!
