Question:

my partner was caught between two peices of machinery and squashed badly and caused his pancreas to swell?

The doctors were worried about his pancreas but say he is ok. He still feels quite bad after 1 month. Could his pancreas be more easily distressed with alcohol or just in general and could this cause him to feel light headed, nauseous and unwell

Answer:

Being light head in general is a sign he needs to talk with a doctor. he may be losing blood internally!!!
He needs to see a Doctor. He also needs to put down the alcohol for a while too. He needs to go see his Doc, asap. Something can be still swollen or bleeding. They can miss something in the original diagnosis and now that time has passed and he is still feeling crummy, it might show up this time, he needs to go again, please!
That is a serious case that needs immediate attention by physician. Have him complete medical check up. So that everything will be taken care at hand. As the saying goes, An ounce of prevention is worth a thousand pounds of cure.
He had a traumatic injury to internal organs, and that takes a good deal of time to get over. Certainly he needs to avoid alcohol at this point until he has fully recovered. It may take several months before the pancreas begins fully functioning again, and other organs as well may still be messed up. But if he has gotten worse in the last couple of days, take him to the doctor right away.
Did the Dr s know he would be drinking alcohol? That would make a difference. If my pancreas was 'under the weather' I wouldnt do Anything that even Might make it worse!! Maybe he has a death wish?
