Question:

My power supply cables won't disconnect from the hard drive, cd drive, ect? HELP!?

I'm putting in my new power supply and gotta take out the old. But there isnt any clips to slide the cables out. I don't want to pull to hard and damage anything. How do you get it out. Do you pull hard? Help me.

Answer:

Yes sometimes you gotta pull or gently wiggle these power cords off. I have trouble with some systems and i dont know what it is but I will gently take a pair of pliers and pull it off if i can't wiggle them out. Be careful not to squeeze, i just use it for grip because i have fat fingers....Good luck.
Usually the power cables going to the hard drive or CDROM have 2-3 wires that go into a white connector on the back of the device. Sometimes they have a clip to press down, but usually not. What you have to do is use your thumb and index finger and place them on each side of the white connector. (There is usually a couple of ridges sticking out on each side.) Simply tug outwards gradually but firmly, and rocking it from side to side until it finally detaches. When installing the new power supply, take a look on the connectors and you should see that they can only be inserted in one direction, as it usually has a angled corner that will not allow installation if it is upside-down. I would also suggest you make sure that the PC is not still plugged in. Some power supplies operate in standby mode and if you use pliers or a screwdirver to try and get the power supply out, you could fry the boards. (Just be sure to touch something metal to discharge any static electricity buildup on you before handling the PC.)
there isn't any other way......just hold the edges of the cable(tip of the cable - the black part ) and pull it out(pull it harder till it comes out)......dont worry you wont damagae your hard disk by doing this
You have to pull quite hard. Just try to pull from the plastic part, and not on the cord itself. if you're carefull you could try to grab the connector with pliers. Just be carefull you don't bang something.
Just pull on the cables. There are no clips. Just got to pull. Those things get really stuck with time. It's a really stupid connection system.
