Question:

Need ideas for convincing barn owner to get arena built?

My horse isn't actually broke yet, but I will need an arena once he is.My barn owner has already said that she wants to build one 'soon.' I know that she has the money, the land, and the time. It's just going to be a basic outdoor, all we really need is drainage and footing since the fencing's already there. On the other hand, she's a pretty lazy person. She's really nice, but since I'm the only one on the property who really is pushing for an arena, she's taking her time getting started.Does anyone have any ideas for motivating her, without making her mad? I'd be willing to help build it if I have to, but I'm not sure how to bring it up.Ideas would be great :)

Answer:

make money he cud use it all weather conditions great area use people will get to know u and do favour and more money!
I would simply ask her if she has an ETA for when the arena will be built. Explain to her that your horse is in training, and will eventually need an arena to work in. Give her an idea of when you think you will need the arena and then offer to help her. Since you know she has the time, money, and space, all she needs is materials. Keep an open mind, these things take a lot of time, money and commitment. She may or may not be able to do it right away, but if she knows that her charges are interested it may light a fire under her butt. Find out why she has been waiting. There very well may be some big reasons she has kept to herself for not yet starting the project. If this is the case, you might be waiting a while. Don't use threats, or start an uprising among other barn goers, just lay the facts out and get her side of the story. If she just doesn't know were to start, or needs others to help, well, you can do that! Be patient, and most of all, helpful. That's probably all she needs.
