Question:

Never blanketed a horse before.need help!?

I bought a new mare about 2 weeks agoShe has like 0 winter coat, i mean her coat after two weeks of increasingly cold temps is about the same was what my old mares was in the middle of summerI need to blanket her because where i live it gets below zero with the wind chill a few times a year, and today, in the middle of october, it was a high of 36 with the windchillSo she needs blanketed but idk what kind to get herShe is a 16h 13yr old thoroughbred mare who is on pasture all day and in the stall at nightThe average in my area for the winter is below freezing but it usually stays above 0would I want heavy weight or medium weight? I have never blanketed a horse before so any more info would be great!

Answer:

I have the same problem! I'm 5ft and 115lbs Not fat, but my thighs don't have anything on KFC, lol (: I do these workouts i find in magazines, such as, seventeen, you can also search the web for them! They seem to be working, I've been doing them for about a month nowGood Luck!
I find that if you do squats and lunges, they really seem to helpThey really do tighten up the muscles in your legs and make them look skinnierWith the squats bend down and keep your back straight, so you make a 90 degree angles with your bend legs to the floorAlso with the lunges, it's bedder to do them slow and hold your stance longerOh and another thing that will help are wall sitsYou position yourself against a wall and bend downIt should look like you are sitting in an invisible chairYou only really need to do these for about 30 secsI hope I helped.
I have known plenty of TBs like you describeTheir winter coat is about what a normal horse's summer coat would beI suggest you get 2 blankets, a light/medium one and a heavy oneWhen temperatures are below 0 the heavy one will be neededBut you will have some days when it's too warm for the heavy blanket, and the absolute worst thing is for a horse to get sweaty under a blanket because then they get chilledSo for those cool (but not COLD) days a lighter blanket will still be needed since your horse has no coat to speak of My horse actually has a range of weights so I always have the perfect blanket for the situationA sheet, a light blanket (100g fill), a medium blanket (200 g fill) and a heavy blanket (350 g fill with a neck cover too)Of course this might be overkill, and I do like to spoil my horsesBut at least 2 different weights of blanket will be better than just a heavy one.
I found the book to be very informative and easy to readI've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quicklyI will admit I haven't followed the guide exactlyI'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd loseSo thanks again for the informationI've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surpriseGet started today!
I have been through it all and know what's it aboutThe main thing is to stick in thereYou can't be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight offI've worked out, done every diet, and all types of classesFirst, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concernYou can't eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lotWhich brings us to the next thingDuh, ExercisingThis is a must especially if you need to a lot of weightGet at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercisingDo some cardio, in the long run, it's good for the heartHowever, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my dietIt's so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodiesI've found a great addition to help any one out, it's a natural weight loss supplement called ProactolNow don't get all crazy on me and say diet pills don't workThat is true, but not in this caseThis one isn't meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couchIt's an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binderI saved money on the pills at theweightlossplace dot com along with getting some good infoIt basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jarFor me it's the best pill I've tried and I've tried cupboards fullNow this doesn't mean you have to follow my foot steps but I've successfully lost roughly 70 pounds and keeping it off til this dayNothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weightWell good luck and remember what I said, Dedicate.
