Question:

Nintendo DS Homemade Battery Pack?

I want to make a rechargable battery pack for my old nintendo ds (NOT lite). I found online that the DS takes 5.2 volts at 450 mAh (the 5.2V part is also on the back of the DS). If I were to wire 4 rechargable NiMH or NiCd (1.2V) in series and hook it up to the DS, would it work? I'm pretty sure that wiring them in series adds up the voltage to 4.8 volts, just under the 5.2 mark. Would it be acceptable to go slightly over? For example, could I put 4 regular alkaline batteries (1.5V) together to make a 6 volt pack?

Answer:

After the sport boy sp, no longer which incorporate the sport Boy improve, all hand-held structures incorporate a battery p.c it extremely is outfitted in, and you will recieve a wall charger with the DS. automobile chargers are additionally for you to purchase. I wouldnt advise beginning the DS to verify the battery p.c. as this could void nintendo guarantee. wish that helps!
I really dont think that making your own is a very good idea. Last time i tried it with my PSP, it broke and i was not able to get it repaired. They sad that it was because of a short surquit that the battery caused but i did not tell them that i had trried to make my own, anyways, if i were you i would just go buy a new battery pack. Check e bay or something, it cant be too expensive, what happened to your old battery pack?
