Answer:

I don't think anyone needs to express their outrage over felons and firearms, just answer the kids question, right?
I can't find it either. Google you Dept of Justice or State Senate in Albany My lawyer said unless grandfather clause actually written into a law, it isn't then assumed. Thank you for your kind words. Bear C** you too. Yes, I do care a liitke bit about about felons, at least one I know. Can I email you some time? EDIT: To that 2nd Answerer: Just answer the question. This isn't law and ethics or politics. New laws happen every day, as Zero points out. He isn't freaking out, he is always like that in his Q and A. He is a good man, unlike what T. says. Many wake up to find they are now a criminal. I : committed no felonies, Either. I pussy bargained out to avoid trial. If I lost trial, it would be worse. I wish now I had hired a real lawyer. No, it didn't involve drugs or robbery or hurting anyone. Just a technicality in the law. 20 years ago it wouldn't even have been a crime. I Am a law abiding citizen. I am a good Mormon. I can give you references. So, Be careful out there, or You may lose your rights, too. It is very easy after 9/11 and with all the anti gun politics out there. Remember, Obama is in office? From IL? Rant Over...... .
Its not just NYS the ATF is considering the same thing; to ban felons from possessing a black powder gun that uses a 209 shotgun primer. There are two choices here; get rid of said gun or move to a more friendly state. As for felons I personally know a woman who became a felon for writing bad checks in Montana. Not all felons are killers, robbers and rapists. Here in Alaska certain felons can own a black powder gun that is a muzzle loader but it cant use cartridges. Also there are several restrictions on this and it must be for hunting, trapping and outdoor protection and NOT concealed on the person
Oh well. Destroy the gun, or hand it over before the ban. It's no one else's fault other than their own, that they committed a felony and now are under felony status.
