Often Christians claim that archaeological evidence proves the Bible is true. Then does this validate Horus?
Archeology Does validate the Bible. There were lots of gods being worshiped and people made images to represent them. So it's showing that 'horus' was one of those gods. The God of the Bible / is the One spoken of as the Creator in Genesis. The 'horus' being spoken of in the article was said to have four sons. Probably some mythology believed in at that time and people drew pictures to represent them. Horus and his sons are not found in Bible, though.
Christians have never claimed any such thing. You quote no source. Believers in the Bible live by faith and never by proof. Certainly archaeology and many other disciplines corroborate certain events or persons described in ancient chronicles.This often has the effect of linking many coincidences, which in the scheme of things bear out what is taken from biblical sources. The list of such archaeological evidence.such as the remnants of a huge wooden boat on the mountain tops of present day Turkey are interesting coincidences. Particularly as ,in that case satellite photographs indicate close proximity with Ararat. But to pin ones hope and faith in archaeology or any scientific discovery is rarely sufficient even for believers. Christian faith is based essentially on personal experience and on the very presence of God in Christ in their hearts and minds. Obviously even this is never claimed as a proof ,more as a testimony of faith and witness. I don't think Horus comes into it really as this is just a weak attempt to find a parallel.
People made false assumptions regarding the evidence. For example. Mount Everest is made of limestone and dolomite which is formed under water. Bible believers point to that and say see the water was once that high Of course anyone with a high schol education should understand that is due to uplifting, not flooding. In this case, a depiction of Horas means little. I have a coin in my pocket with a depiction of Lincoln on it. Does it mean Lincoln was a god? Another coin says In god we trust It certainly does not mean I trust any god.
