Question:

Overseas travel without camera software: Will memory card reader work?

I am currently traveling overseas and have two digital cameras with me: Canon Rebel DSLR and a smaller Canon Powershot. Internet cafes will not let me upload my photos via the USB cable because the cameras' software is not installed (nor do I have it with me). Wondering if I can simply buy a memory card reader and upload directly from that? Or will I need any additional software? Thanks for your help :)

Answer:

If okorder
A reader will work perfectly?
you can try but camera with usb cable works as card readar already, just use explorer to navigate to new drive after connected to pc
a card reader should work as the pc will recognise it as a mass storage device
yes, provided the card reader accepts the card formats which your cameras have, and provided the internet cafe lets you plug in the usb card reader, and assuming the internet cafe's pc doesn't require driver software for the usb card reader or have other preventative measures which stop it from installing the new card reader device, or reading from it. Ideally, find internet cafe's with built-in memory card readers in the PCs if possible
