Question:

painting plastic?

the cistern on my loo is plastic.it's a little discoloured and i'd like to paint it uld i use white emulsion or gloss, which i have,or do i need to get a different type of paint?

Answer:

When using emulsion paint to paint plastic you have to thoroughly clean the surface so it is free of dirt, stains and oil residue for the paint to adhere properly. I would recommend using Krylon Fusion for Plastic, you can paint plastic without preparing the surface before painting...bonds directly with plastic and dries in 15 minutes.
As long as it says sutible for plastics and certain items within the household either one should do fine. I would think gloss though would be the best way to go.It will last longer.
Krylon makes a specific type of spray paint formulated to bond with plastic. It comes in many colors, and works better than anything I've discovered on plastic.
There are countless varieties of plastic. some could be painted actual. some won't be able to be painted in any respect. Others rely on the particular variety of paint and education. maximum pliable furniture won't be able to be painted without looking mattress.
if you go to where you buy paint thy do sell plastic paint and that your best bet
